If you have spent the majority of your life saying "yes" to others, it's possible that you do not really know yourself - or you are too afraid to be yourself.
If you've spent your life trying to please others and conforming to their expectations, it can be challenging to truly understand your own desires and needs. It's possible that you have been living on autopilot, following inherited values and beliefs that have guided your actions without your conscious awareness.
In our fast-paced lives, it's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day hustle and bustle, leaving little time for deep introspection. We often find ourselves making decisions on autopilot, without considering what WE truly want out of life.
This is where the journey of self-discovery becomes crucial. It's a process that requires stepping out of your comfort zone, dedicating time and effort, and approaching it with humility. Despite the discomfort it may bring, self-discovery is the most important work you can undertake. It allows you to unravel the layers of external influences and societal expectations, and uncover your authentic self and true aspirations.
Discovering who you truly are involves a deep excavation, peeling away layers of family expectations, societal pressures, and the facade you wear to fit in.
Who lies beneath all of that?
It's a journey of uncovering your individual preferences, understanding your passions, and courageously expressing your authentic self. This process requires delving into your core values, desires, and even re-evaluating seemingly simple things like what makes you happy. Unraveling these aspects of yourself can be challenging, as it's hard to separate genuine traits from those absorbed through life's influences.
When I began this introspective journey, I struggled to come to terms with choosing myself. As I began the journey of deciphering my authentic preferences, I was also faced with the dilemma of "caving in" to avoid any unpleasant responses from others.
I learned that being kind to others should never come at the cost of our own well-being
Living authentically means being true to yourself, embracing your unique qualities, and staying genuine in all aspects of your life.
It involves aligning your actions with your values and beliefs, and not being afraid to show the world who you truly are. Authentic living is about being honest with yourself and others, and living in a way that brings joy and fulfillment.
It's about being unapologetically yourself and embracing your individuality without fear of judgement.
In a world that constantly tries to mould us into something we're not, authentic living is a powerful act of self-love and self-acceptance.
